DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Undocumented Student Services (USS) Team is composed of the Lead Assistant Director and USS Academic Counselor, who leads a team of student interns. USS is housed within the Educational Opportunity Programs (EOP) and works collaboratively within a broader team focused on removing barriers and increasing educational equity at UCSC with a foundation in social justice.

EOP provides a variety of academic and personal support programs designed to improve the retention and academic success of first-generation college students from low-income and historically underserved backgrounds to ensure they successfully complete their undergraduate education and acquire the skills to prepare for graduate and professional school, as well as future leadership roles. EOP resides within the Division of Student Success at UC Santa Cruz. This position serves as a resident expert on effectively serving undocumented students.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Educational Opportunity Programs (EOP) Director & Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Success and Equity (SSE), the Assistant Director of USS is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and assessing programs designed to support the academic wellness and campus integration of undocumented students. The incumbent oversees a varied and complex set of co-curricular services and programs that advance knowledge of and awareness about UCSC's diverse undocumented community.
