Overview

We are a hard-working team of storytellers, narrative strategists, creatives, and cultural organizers. We’re looking for a culture-obsessed Social Media Manager to join our team and to bring their unique perspective to mass engagement for a political formation.

Supervision

The Social Media Manager reports to the Director of Communications

Location

Remote with travel required up to 4-6 times a year. East Coast preferable; other locations considered within U.S. for exceptional candidates

Responsibilities

  1. Content Creation
    1. Create, edit, curate and manage all daily published social media content (images, video, written and audio) using existing and original content
    2. Identify, curate and share relevant content from other media sources on our social platforms.
    3. Develop, implement and own all aspects of a social media engagement strategy to curate our online presence, increase our audience and improve our influence 
    4. Coordinate virtual events, leveraging social platforms to drive engagement
    5. Manage and develop politically reflective social media content calendar that engages content across our social platforms, optimized for each audience and CTA
    6. Develop and execute strategic plans for new social platforms when appropriate.
  2. Community Engagement
    1. Manage and moderate the organization's online community, fostering positive and inclusive discussions.
    2. Respond to comments, messages, and inquiries on social media platforms, cultivating meaningful interactions.
    3. Initiate and lead conversations that promote awareness of social justice issues and encourage community participation.
    4. Grow and manage social media partners to promote campaigns and initiatives
    5. Move as the digital ambassador of the organization and the public voice of our political projects; cultivate positive relationships with followers and design projects that develop our online community.
  3. Cross-Functional Collaboration
    1. Collaborate closely with other team members, including the communications team, to ensure messaging consistency and holistic campaign execution.
    2. Coordinate with event coordinators to integrate community engagement into virtual and in-person events.
    3. Participate in strategy discussions to align content and community initiatives with organizational goals.
    4. Fielding social media post requests from staff and lead organizers of Dream Defender SquaDDs.
  4. Data Analysis
    1. Own reporting, analyzing and research to optimize content, including user engagement, audience growth, content performance, clicks, and conversions.
    2. Monitor engagement metrics and analyze data related to content performance, community growth, and interactions.
    3. Use insights to refine content strategies and optimize community engagement tactics.

Skills/Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience in digital strategy or social media management
  • Experience in tailored writing for a political formation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proven creative storytelling ability a plus
  • High comfort-level working autonomously with outstanding organizational skills
  • The ability to think creatively about organic platform growth and implement unconventional, innovative campaigns and experiment with new tactics
  • Knowledge of best practices across key social media sites including, but not limited to Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Facebook, and Linked-In.
  • A strong ability to execute ideas with excellent multi-tasking skills and ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Developed skillset for rapid response content building and digital deployment.
  • Experience with Content Management Platforms; some experience with cross-platform live streaming a plus 
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative suite, Figma, Canva (and others) with the ability to create clear and engaging social graphics, motion and other design solutions
  • Demonstrated interest in and understanding of current social media trends, news, memes, influencers, platforms and tools

Salary and Benefits: The salary for this position will be in the range of $70,000-$75,000, with an extremely competitive benefits package and generous personnel policies.
